Hello Everybody,
It’s been a busy month. In case you missed them, here’s a list of my posts for May:

This month, we have:
a review of Sirens
the roundup
a preview of what’s happening in June
Dive into Netflix’s Sirens
Sirens was an enjoyable watch and I’m sincerely hoping there will be a season two. The series is only five episodes long, so it’s an easy weekend binge. The story follows Devon as she desperately seeks the help of her younger sister, Simone, to help care for their father who has dementia. Devon is shocked by the ‘new’ Simone she finds and decides her sister’s boss, Michaela, is a cult leader and Simone has drunk the Kool-Aid. Devon imbeds herself into the ‘cult’ in an attempt to free her sister from Michaela’s grasp.
Of course, not all is as it seems at first glance. The more we learn, the more complex the story becomes. I won’t spoil the ending, but it was superb. The show explores extremely complex issues with insight, nuance, and compassion. I thoroughly recommend watching if you haven’t already.
‘Hey Hey’ - if you know, you know.
The Roundup
This piece by Jameela Jamil on her interview with Gisèle Pelicot’s daughter is incredibly powerful and moving. If you read one thing from this list, let it be this.
The crisis in Gaza has continued to worsen. Let’s call it what it is—Genocide.
I read The Boar’s Wife by Madison Jozefiak published by The Orange & Bee. This is a beautifully written fairy tale available to read for free.
Netflix have released the first six minutes of season two of Wednesday over on Youtube. The 6th of August can’t come soon enough. It looks just as fabulously creepy as season one!
Anthony Albanese and the Labor Party won the Australian Federal election on the 3rd of May. This is the first federal election where millennial and gen z voters outnumbered baby boomers. Meaning, the younger generations were key deciders in this vote. The outcome was unsurprising given the rising cost of living, increased number of renters, housing crisis, and climate crisis.
The proposed change to superannuation taxation has been controversial. This article by Chris Murphy explains the impact on taxpayers in a clear and insightful way.
A new Pope has been elected. While he has been praised for his more liberal views, it should not go unsaid that he has been accused of covering up the sexual abuse of minors within the church.
Unsolicited recommendation - Bon Maxie. I recently purchased this bag in tan for work. I can’t recommend it enough. The quality is superb and the bag is huge, which is good because it needs to fit my mobile office! There are two drink holders—one for my water bottle and one for my coffee. But my favourite part of this bag is the key clip. Why don’t all bags have these? It is a bit pricey, but I can tell that it will last a long time from the quality. I should note, this isn’t an affiliate link, I gain nothing from this recommendation. I simply love my purchase.

Yep, we outnumber the boomers now. What an interesting time.
