The third door looked less ominous than the last, but there was something about the man standing above the woman lying in bed that made Emily shudder. Emily had been through the first two doors already and she felt compelled to finish the job. She also had not forgotten that the entry back to the house was sealed and there was a chance one of these doors would lead her out of the dastardly chamber.
She took a deep breath and walked to the door. Her steps slow, but purposeful. Though she had not yet opened the door, Emily somehow knew what waited for her behind it. She could feel the darkness. She could feel his darkness. Yet she was not afraid. The fear had disappeared and been replaced by acceptance.
She turned the door handle and walked over the threshold.
